Antique Engraving "The New Catholic Cathedral, Cincinnati"

An original antique hand-pulled steel plate engraving on wove paper, engraved by Rawdon, Wright, hatch & Smillie and published by J. Murphy (Baltimore), titled The New Catholic Cathedral, Cincinnati. The print depicts a monochromatic view of the Saint Peter in Chains Cathedral in downtown Cincinnati. The print has a few faint areas of hand-coloring, likely completed much later than the print’s original creation. The print is double-matted in brown and ivory and is presented behind glass in a rounded wooden frame with cherry stain. A hanging wire is attached to the piece’s verso.

- to fair. Light accretion across. Yellowed water damage to upper and lower edges. Scratching across frame.
