19th-Century French Limoges Foiled Enamel Portrait Plaque

A 19th-century French Limoges foiled enamel on copper portrait plaque, monogrammed FR, after the work of French painter Jules Joseph Lefebvre (1836-1911). A regal woman appears in the profile view with a laurel wreath crown in her flowing brunette hair and ornate puffed sleeves on her royal blue dress. Running along the side near the monogram is written, ’d’apres J. Lefebvre.’ Presented with a linen wrapped mounting, housed in a brass frame with kick stand and ornate floral crest.

Condition

- monogram and inscription appear faded; some rubbing along the edges of the plaque where the liner lays.
