Early 20th-Century Russian Hand Painted Lacquered Box

Item Details

An early 20th-century Russian lacquered box with hand painted figural scene. Depicted to the lid is a man and woman riding in the back of a horse drawn carriage driven by a bearded man. The box is constructed of heavily lacquered papier-mâché. On the interior of the box are three sloped interior compartments coated with red lacquer. To the underside of the lid are two illegible Russian stamps.
