Taiwanese Watercolor Paper Cutouts of Robed Figures
Item Details
A set of two framed pieces of Taiwanese art. Each piece features a cut-out figure hand-painted with watercolor accents. The works each depict a figure in colorful robes and clothing, each shown holding a handled tool or weapon. The unsigned cut-outs are mounted to cream backing paper, matted in blue and presented under glass in gold tone wooden frames. Each frame includes hanging rope to the verso. The frames also include handwritten notes to the backing with both English and Chinese characters; both pieces are noted with ‘Tivoli, Art, G’, with one bearing an additional notation of ‘Taipei’.
Condition
- to Fair; foxing and toning to prints and mats with age; adhesive residue present to one piece where cut-out has come un-glued; scratches to frame finish; frames would benefit from cleaning; writing and stains to frame backings.
