Antique Cast Brass Shrine with Porcelain Madonna and Child Plaque
Item Details
An antique cast brass Christian shrine with central hand painted porcelain medallion of the Madonna and Child. The Virgin Mary and infant Christ appear in the plaque with St. John in the shadows to the right. The image can be reveal or hidden by two hinged doors with coffered foliage panels to the front and verso of the doors. The shrine sits on two lion bodied feet with a stepped brass base affixed to a marble plinth. The exterior of the shrine is adorned with inset stones, two of which are missing from the doors. The piece is marked to the verso with an impressed lion hallmark.
EBTH certifies this item is from the private collection of personal property formerly owned by Dr. Robert H. Schuller.
