Vintage Louis XV Style Secretariat Cabinet in Flame Mahogany

Item Details

A vintage Louis XV style secretariat cabinet in a flame mahogany from Henry Steul of Buffalo, New York. The secretariat has a double glass-doored cabinet to the top with a broken arch crest embellished with floral medallions to the ends and carved scrolled acanthus leaves, with a flame finial to the center. Below is a frieze decorated with incised diamond band. The glass panes are detailed with Chippendale style fretwork. The original key with decorative tassel is present. The base has a drop front in flame mahogany and three flame mahogany-fronted drawers with brass batwing pulls. The cabinet has scroll-carved cabriole legs and a base frieze embellished with fleur d’lis and scrollwork. The cabinet has flat panel sides, single shelf to the top cabinet and pigeonholes and small drawers to the inside of the secretariat portion.
