Item Details
A late 20th-century Greek polychrome icon with a sterling silver oklad. This piece features a polychrome painted Byzantine image of Christ surrounded by the four Evangelists, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Gold lace backgrounds appear behind the figures with ornate interweaving sterling silver reliefs framing each individual. The 950 silver plaque is set into a black-painted wood frame. To the verso are two labels describing the piece, one in Greek.
