A gold tone ink woodblock on black paper after an original tomb rubbing of the tomb of Thomas Peyton of Isleham, Cambridgeshire. The tomb was created in 1484. Tomb rubbings were popularly made in the mid-20th century by laying a sheet of paper over an engraved brass memorial plaque (most made in the 14th or 15th centuries), and rubbing a crayon over its surface. This piece is presented behind glass in a wooden frame with gold tone finish and two hoops to the verso for hanging.
