A collection of eight Big Little Books, distinctive small, chunky hardcover children’s books produced by the Whitman Publishing Company in Racine, Wisconsin. This collection includes several books based on film, radio or other media, such as Ken Maynard in ‘Gun Justice’ (1934), Dick Tracy and the Mad Killer (1947) Jack Armstrong and the Mystery of the Iron Key (1939) and Gunsmoke (1958); as well as the original Big Little Books Captain Easy, Soldier of Fortune (1934) and Spike Kelly of the Commandos (1943). Also included are two Little Big Books, a similar format by the Saalfield Publishing Company: Bandits at Bay (1938) and Nevada Whalen, Avenger (1938).
