Vintage Chinese Southern Official Arm Chairs
Item Details
A pair of vintage Chinese Southern Official armchairs. The chairs are crafted from elm and and have a red lacquered finish. Each chair has an ornately carved splat to the center with open fretwork and carved dragons to each arm. The rectangular seats have a natural finish and boast carved aprons below. Official’s Chairs were used by honored dignitaries at public and governmental functions. These chairs appear to date to the early twentieth century.

- one piece has a small crack to each front corner of the seat
