A Persian Bahktiari garden area rug. This rectilinear wool rug is crisply hand-knotted in an abrashed palette of madder red, black, ivory, mocha, and shades of blue. It features twenty-four rectangular panels, each containing imagery associated with a formal Persian garden. Panels include stylized depictions of mihrabs, juniper trees, weeping willows, flowering fruit trees, palmettes, morning glories, and other flowers over different background colors. Framing the field are four box borders. These include a primary border featuring an_almond blossom_ pattern over black, the primary border flanked by minor borders containing linked boteh over cream and rose. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at either end with ivory cotton warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
