Hand-Knotted Mir-Serabend Wool Area Rug

A hand-knotted Mir-Serabend area rug. This wool rug features a dense floral boteh motif throughout the field in a palette of cochineal red, cerulean blue, and cadmium yellow on a black background. The rug offers a primary border with a Serabend pattern flanked by a carnation meander, boteh and rosette, and running water guard borders on each side. It is finished with overcast selvedge edges and a knotted cotton warp fringe at either end. The rug has a tag marked ‘Made in Iran’ attached to the verso.
