Early 20th C. Gothic Revival Style Armchair

Item Details

An early 20th century Gothic Revival style oak armchair. This chair features a carved pineapple finial to the center of its peaked crest, flanked by two carved lions. The back of the chair is pierced and carved with trefoils and quatrefoils, arches, leaves, and berries. Its arms curve widely, with large carved acanthus leaves near the back; they are supported by carved columns. The chair sits on simple ring-turned legs with a box stretcher between them. It is marked ‘Made in Belgium’ to the underside.
