Nineteenth-Century Tauchnitz Latin Editions of Roman Classics
Item Details
A collection of stereotyped editions of Roman classics published by Karl Tauchnitz of Leipzig between 1833 and 1854. The books are quarter-leatherbound sextodecimo volumes with marbled boards and raised bands, and the spines are labeled in gilt with the conventional modern names of the authors: Lucretius, Tacitus, Virgil and Sallust. The titles and authors as given are De Rerum Natura, Libri VI by Titi Lucretii Cari (1833), C. Cornelii Taciti Opera Quoad Extant in two volumes (1846), Publii Virgilii Maronis Opera (1853) and C.
