An original 2006 oil painting on canvas by reputed Cincinnati-based artist Gayle Gillette Hummel, titled Keep an Eye on Spring. The painting depicts a garden scene of multi-colored flowers bursting with blossoms from their stems, growing in their bright, natural outdoor habitat beneath a periwinkle blue sky. True to Hummel’s style, the buttery, glossy paint has been applied with heavy impasto directly to the canvas with a palette knife, adding a sculptural, tactile element to the piece. Gayle Hummel is a native of Terrace Park in Cincinnati, Ohio who studied Fine Art at both Miami University and the University of Cincinnati. Her work can be found in many galleries and private collections worldwide. Her work was also chosen by the late Princess Diana to be hung in a Children’s hospital in England.
