Gayle Gillette Hummel Original Oil & Acrylic on Canvas
Item Details
An original acrylic and oil painting on canvas by reputed Cincinnati-based artist Gayle Gillette Hummel, circa 1990. The painting depicts a girl or woman wearing a white dress with a blue sash and a straw hat with a red sash on her head, pointing with a very pale arm at something beyond the pictorial space. She stands with her back to the viewer against a faded, seafoam green backdrop. The buttery, glossy paint has been applied with heavy impasto directly to the canvas with a palette knife, adding a sculptural, tactile element to the piece. Artist signature is signed in paint to the lower right. The painting mounted in a plein air frame with a gold leaf finish, equipped to hang.
Gayle Hummel is a native of Terrace Park in Cincinnati, Ohio who studied Fine Art at both Miami University and the University of Cincinnati. Her work can be found in many galleries and private collections worldwide. Her work was also chosen by the late Princess Diana to be hung in a Children’s hospital in England.
