Antique SYP ("Simple Yet Perfect") Teapot

An antique ‘SYP’ teapot, meaning ‘Simple Yet Perfect’, likely Wedgwood Rockingham. This style of teapot was originally designed by Sir Douglas Baillie Hamilton Cochrane, the 12th Earl of Dundonald, and patented in 1901. The teapot has a rounded handle and a handle on the lid to the front of the teapot. It has an angled lip and a curved spout. It has an unusual design in that the dry tea leaves are kept separate from the hot water until it is tilted back. Black stamp marked to the underside ‘Regd. No. 536554, Trade Mark, Patent SYP Tea Pot, England.’
