C. Roberts Oil on Wax Miniature Portrait of a Lady
Item Details
An oil painting on wax miniature portrait by C. Roberts or Robarts. Dated 1749, the oval painting depicts a seated woman wearing a wide brimmed hat decked with feathers atop her powdered curls and a red dress with a frilly white bodice. The background features drapery and a classical column. It is signed and dated to the lower right and mounted in an gold tone oval metal frame fitted with an easel back.
Condition
- wear to visible edges of wax including 0.25" crack at lower edge of dress and upper edge of column, chipping to lower right, tarnish to frame.
