Hand-Knotted Carved Chinese Area Rug

A hand-knotted and carved Chinese area rug. This wool rug is rendered in a palette of pale pink, cream, green, and shades of blue. It features an Old Peking-style design beginning with a floral center medallion with smaller medallions along the spandrels. The field is framed by a wide primary border, which also repeats the elements of the center medallion over a cream-colored ground. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at either end with short kilim skirts and knotted ivory cotton warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
