A hand-knotted Indo-Persian ‘Esfahan’ room-sized wool area rug. It features a bold red field with a floral central medallion with complementary pendants in pinks, ivory, taupe, brick, shades of hunter and moss green, ochre and indigo. The field is enclosed with a heavy and ornate floral border with oversized palmettes and flanking floral guard borders. It has overcast edges and fine wool warp fringe. It has leather strips to the selvedge on the underside to prevent curling. Tagged to underside.
