English Oil on Canvas Farm Landscape
Item Details
An English School oil on canvas, ca. 1900, depicting a farmer with watering horses in the foreground. The work is housed in a period style gilt and gesso frame, and is signed indistinctly to the lower left. A ‘John Bryce Smith’ canvas maker’s stamp is present to the verso, as well as W.T. Burger Co. label.
Condition
Two scrolling loops of moulding are broken. Small chips and cracks to gesso and paint frame finish. Three small areas of missing paint in the lower left of the image.
