An early 20th century oil on canvas, depicting a scholar sharpening a quill in an interior setting. The work is unsigned, and is reminiscent of a Continental Grand Tour painting. The subject’s dress indicates a much earlier subject, and the work may be a copy of a 17th century example. Unframed, with stretcher.
