An oil painting on canvas titled Williamsburg by well-listed artist William Benecke (1934-2001). This work features a view of house and it’s well-kept fenced garden filled with colorful flowers. The painting is signed to the lower right. A stamp and label from the W.T. Burger Co. are present to the verso. Another label to the verso provides a short bio of the artist. The stretched canvas remains unframed.
William Benecke was born in 1934 in Chicago, Illinois and had his formal art training at the Art Institute of Chicago. He worked as an illustrator for several major studios in Chicago and also worked as a staff illustrator for the Chicago Tribune and the Sun Times. When he was 24, he traveled to Mexico and lived there for ten years during which time he painted and ran his own gallery. Benecke is known for his landscapes, garden scenes and portraits.
