Item Details
A Tekke Bokhara area rug. This wool rug is hand-knotted in a palette of cherry, ivory, pink, and black. It features a lattice pattern of Tekke guls connected by black stems, interspersed with Kurbage guls. Framing the field are seven wraparound borders, all grounded in cherry. These include a pair of repeating floret minor borders and a primary border featuring alternating boxes containing comb motifs, lattices, and a star-shaped gul. The field is bookended by horizontal panels, one at the top and one at bottom, each featuring a pattern of hooked diamond segments over cherry. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with short kilim skirts in red and white and undyed wool warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
