An original 1942 charcoal drawing on paper by very well-listed Swiss-Canadian artist René Richard (1895 – 1982), titled Le Saguenay. The image depicts a nocturnal, moody aquatic landscape in which an anonymous figure sits motionless in a wooden rowboat to the foreground, surrounded by darkened water and sky, flanked by nebulous woodland mountains. Artist signature, date and title are marked to the lower center edge. This piece is float-mounted on white ground within coordinating matting, protected behind glass in a beveled wood frame with a distressed gold leaf finish, equipped to hang. Additional information about the artist is attached to the verso.

Condition

- light creasing and wear around perimeters of drawing. Corners of frame are slightly separating.
