An original landscape watercolor on paper by Robert Burns Wilson (American, 1850 – 1916). This piece depicts misty outcroppings within an inlet of a body of water. It is rendered in watery pigments of cool tones on fibrous paper. It is signed by hand to the lower right corner and is set behind glass in a deep-set brown and gold wooden frame with a faux-antique craquelure finish. It has a wire to the verso for hanging, as well as a label indicating it was hung in or framed by Cross Gate Gallery of Lexington, Kentucky.
Robert Burns Wilson was a painter and poet who settled in Frankfort, Kentucky and became well-known for his depictions of Kentucky landscapes. He is well-listed, including works in the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, and is currently buried in the Frankfort Cemetery near the grave of Daniel Boone.

- tear to upper center edge of paper; paper yellowing from age; evidence of reframing; light scuffs to frame corners.
