Antique Hudson River School Oil Painting on Canvas of a Landscape
Item Details
An antique oil on canvas landscape, circa 1870s, depicting a lake landscape with mountainous background. The work is executed in the Hudson River School style, though might be a New Hampshire subject. A gathering of cattle are in the foreground, with a lake and horizon beyond. The work is unsigned, but is housed in the original frame of the period, with incised moulding. A fine example of the Hudson School tradition.
Condition
- significant wear and chipping to the frame (particularly along the bottom and right sides); discoloration and wear to the verso; most of the paint to the back and sides of the frame has been chipped away.
