Semi-Antique Hand-Knotted Persian Sarouk Area Rug
Item Details
A semi-antique Persian Sarouk area rug. This colorful wool rug is hand-knotted in a palette of tangerine, tan, and ivory. It begins with a large, concentric star medallion over a partly open tangerine-colored field. Contained within and surrounding the medallion’s outlines are flowers, palmettes, and lancet leaves, elements that are repeated in the corners of the field. A meandering carnation border frames the field. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with short tan warp fringe. Blue weft threads are visible on the underside. The rug is labeled on the reverse.
