A handwoven Indo-Persian soumak. This flatweave wool area rug is rendered in a palette of navy blue, ivory, shades of pink, and green. It begins with a round navy blue central medallion seeded with a star floret. The medallion rests on an ivory-colored field, which is populated with symetrically arranged flowers, vines, lancet leaves, and two vase forms. Framing the field is a navy blue border featuring a pattern of meandering lillies and palmettes. Edges are serged with burlap. Unlabeled.
