A giclee print on paper titles Cranes after Japanese artist Sakai Hoitsu (1761-1828). The original piece is a two-panel paper folding screen in ink and gold leaf. Depicted in the piece are five cranes with black breasts and red around the eyes standing beside a winding river. The artist’s signature and publisher’s seal are in plate to the right side. The piece is presented behind a mat and glass in a black faux bamboo frame that is wired for hanging.
Condition
- edge wear to frame; slightly out of alignment with mat, notably top side edge; moderate residue underneath glass, rip in paper backing.
