Hand-Knotted Indo-Heriz Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Indo-Heriz wool rug. This small area rug is rendered in a palette of brick red, cream, ivory, and green. It features a classic Heriz design beginning with a rectilinear central medallion, enclosing a smaller, quatrefoil medallion, over a red lozenge. Resting on a cream-colored field, the lozenge is populated with palmettes, flowers, leaves, and vines, which continue into the field and spandrels. Framing the field is a primary turtle border over ivory. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at either end with short, tan cotton warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
