A hand-knotted Heriz accent rug. This wool rug is rendered in a palette of burgundy, black, ivory, and cream. It begins with a central, Karaja-style medallion in black, the medallion enclosing a cruciform shape shape seeded with a tiny cross and four in-pointing arrows. The medallion rests on an ivory field, which is populated with rectilinear palmettes, flowers, leaves, and vines in yellow, green, coral, and blue. Framing the field is a primary border featuring a turtle pattern grounded in black. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at either end with tan cotton warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
