Chinese Stone Inlay Artwork

Item Details

A pair of Chinese inlaid stone artworks on tile, using agate and soapstone, of male figures. Included in these detailed relief pieces is a depiction of the God of Longevity, Shoulao, shown carrying a staff in one hand and a peach in the other. Also included is a younger man with a dark beard and conical hat, his feet slightly lifted as if in dance. Neither work is signed, and both are presented in wooden frames with hanging hardware to the upper edge.

Condition

- fair; small cracks and scratches on tile background; wear to both frames; artwork of younger man appears to be missing one arm.
