A reproduction print of an etching by Italian engraver Giovanni Folo (1764–1836) after a painting, titled Danaë with Eros by well-known artist Tiziano Vecelli, better known as Titian (c. 1490-1576). This work depicts the a scene from the Greek legend of the princess Danaë, who was seduced by the god Zeus when he appeared to her as a shower of gold. This brownish print is mounted on paper under glass and a mottled beige and gold tone mat, and is presented inside a red and gold tone frame with hanging hardware to the verso.
Condition
- nicks and wear to frame; foxing to paper backing; piece is dusty throughout.
