A Japanese woodblock restrike print on paper titled No. 53, Kusatsu: From Kusatsu to Yabase, a Bow and Bowstring (五十三次名所図会 草津) from the series Famous Sights of the Fifty-three Stations (五十三次名所圖會), by Utagawa Hiroshige (歌川 広重) (1797-1858). This print features boats in a long, arced line sailing in to the dock at the lower left of the composition. Grey mountains in the background are framed by vibrant blue gradients in the water and sky. The work bears censor’s seals and the artist’s signature to the lower left and upper right. It is presented under an orange mat and glass, in a black painted wood frame, with hanging wire affixed to the verso.
