A French lithograph World War I bank poster by Marcel Falter (b.1866). Depicted is French soldier strangling the imperial eagle of Germany. The eagle bites his hand has the soldier stands determined on the battlefield. A quote in French along the upper left reads ‘Pour le suprême effort (For the supreme effort)’. Below the image is text encouraging citizens to purchase war bonds with the name of a bank, Société Générale, below. This piece is signed in plate just below the cannon on the left. Presented mounted onto a black mat under acetate.
Condition
- some wears are present to the edges; paper is very frail.
