A carved wood mask of a face with a snake and a turtle. This piece presents a face with a rectangular headdress, framed by the carved reptiles, and decorated with geometric patterns. The eyes of the mask are cut out, and hanging wire is affixed to the verso. There are no visible maker’s marks.

Condition

- drip residue from finish to lower left; droplet marks to upper right; wear to finish on nose of turtle and on snake; overall edge wear, and chip to verso at upper edge.
