Original Wesley Kime Portrait of a Woman
Item Details
An original oil on canvas portrait, mounted to masonite board, by 20th century artist Wesley Kime (Los Angeles, b. 1929). The painting depicts a Southwest style woman who is facing to the left, with brunette shoulder length hair, brown eyes and wearing a colorful top with intricately embroidered yoke. The artist has signed the painting in the lower left and a label to the verso indicates the painting was exhibited at the Eisele Gallery of Cincinnati. Unframed.
Wesley Kime pursued dual careers in art (an interest from childhood) and medicine. He studied at the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles and was respected as a pathologist at the Kettering Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio. After retiring from medicine, he painted full time with a concentration on portraits and urban cityscapes. His portraits are known for capturing the “Life Likeness” of his subject, accomplished with accurate and boldly strategic brushstroke.
