Pair of Chinese Shan Shui Watercolor Paintings on Silk
Item Details
A pair of mid 20th-century Chinese shan shui watercolor paintings on silk. Shan shui is a traditional style of Chinese painting wherein scenes were rendered in watercolors and inks rather than standard paints. The mountainous landscape depicted with pagodas and other dwellings is a typical motif found in shan shui paintings. The paintings are affixed to paper and presented with ornate silk brocade boarders on either end. Signed to the lower left on both with a red seal stamp from the artist. To the top right of both are calligraphic inscriptions and large centered, red seals. Both are presented under glass with painted woof frames.
Condition
- minor discoloration to the silk; some small spots of foxing; frames have very minor scratches and marks throughout.
