Jiang Tie-Feng Artist's Proof Serigraph "Beloved"

Item Details

An original 1993 signed limited edition Artist’s Proof serigraph on hand-torn COVENTRY white vellum 100% PH Neutral cotton rag paper by well-listed Chinese-American artist Jiang Tie-Feng (1938-), titled Beloved. The print depicts an adult panda and her cub resting in a grove of stunning long green palm leaves and blue blossoms. The image is created using a swirl of surreal linework filled with bright fields of color. It is numbered AP 27/50 to the lower left and is signed in Chinese Hanzi to the lower right, both in silver ink. It is mounted on black and is double-matted in purple and silver. It is presented behind UV Protection glass in a pewter and black textured frame. A wire is attached to the verso for hanging.

Jiang graduated with honors from the prestigious Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, and was afterwards forced to create propaganda posters and sculptures for the Chinese government. Risking severe punishment, Jiang worked in secret to create his new modern style, rejecting the Red Guards and their “Social Realism”.
