An Frederick Christian Lewis aquatint engraving after an original painting by listed British artist Henry Thomas Alken (1785-1851). The piece, titled The Quorn Hunt: Tally-Ho and Away is plate III from Alken’s Quorn Hunt series and depicts nineteenth-century horses, riders and hounds in the historic English fox hunting event. The print features the series title to the top, with the image title to the bottom margin with a caption by Charles Apperley. The print is marked “Drawn & Etched by H. Alken”, “Engraved by F. C. Lewis”, and “Published Feb 1835 by Rudolph Ackermann at his Eclipse Sporting Gallery” below the bottom edge of the image.The print is presented in a brown wooden frame with a linen liner under plexiglass.
