Handwoven Tribal-Style Area Rug
Item Details
A handwoven wool and cotton area rug. This flatweave rug, possibly from Portugal, features an Asia Minor tribal-style design in a palette of vermillion, canary, ecru, orange, and ivory. It begins with a large serrated diamond medallion, which encloses smaller diamonds. Bracketing the central medallion are four smaller diamond medallions. These rest on a vermillion field enclosed in a sawtooth, yellow border and flanked at the top and bottom by horizontal panels. The panels contain abstracted guls over grounding of ivory or orange. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at either end with knotted brown wool warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
- Please note, this is an item that may be especially difficult to move and/or transport. Unless shipping arrangements are available and made by the winning bidder, that individual is advised to bring appropriate assistance, vehicle, proper materials, and any necessary tools to pickup.
