A very large Aubusson style needlepoint area rug. This tapestry style rug features a center lobed medallion with sweeping florals and foliage, and classical motifs. The design features rose clusters and swags scattered across hunter green and oatmeal fields, and is detailed on a narrow oval border design. The area rug is finished in tones of hunter green, oatmeal, taupe, cranberry, rose, and gray. It has bound seams to the underside and is unmarked.

Condition

- tear in one area on one end of rug. Stray threads to the verso are indicative of the handcrafting process.
