Louis Cardin Original Enamel Painting on Copper
Item Details
An original 1978 enamel on copper painting by reputed French artist Louis Cardin (born 1931). Cardin creates bright scenes of children playing using kiln-fired enamel pigments over copper, often with a loosely splattered surface texture. This scene depicts a child running towards her mother in a field of vivid wildflowers as two sailboats float on a serene body of water in the distance. The piece is signed and dated to the lower right. It is presented in a wooden frame with cast inner surface embellishments, white linen lining, fly-specked gold tone finish, and a sawtooth hanger. Cardin was a student of very well-listed French Cubist Andre L’ Hote (1885 – 1962).
