Ceramic Plates and Bowl From Portugal and Japan
Item Details
A group of ceramic items. This group contains two plates and a bowl, from Portugal and Japan. A decorative plate with silver and gold detail features an image of a peahen next to a peacock with tail feathers spread to fill most of the plate’s basin. It is labeled ‘Chokin ART 24 KT Gold’ on the rim; marking on the underside offers information on ‘The art of Chokin.’ Also included in this lot are a bowl and plate from Portugal. The plate features a hand-painted, colorful depiction of two birds perched in a flowering tree. A hexagonal bowl is footed and features piercework as well as hand-painted ornamentation incorporating images of birds, a phoenix-like creature, and a dog amid elaborate abstract patterning. The Portuguese pieces are marked on the undersides.
