Paul Chidlaw Vintage Used Sketchbook

Item Details

A vintage used spiral-bound rag paper sketchbook that once belonged to well-listed Cincinnati artist Paul Chidlaw (1900-1989). Chidlaw taught at both Our Lady of Cincinnati College (now part of Xavier University) and the Art Academy of Cincinnati from 1946 to 1963 where he was also a student from 1919 to 1923 before going on to study at L’Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Fountainbleu, France. Chidlaw’s art is highly revered and is displayed at the Cincinnati Art Museum and Xavier University as well as in many private collections. The Chidlaw Gallery at the Art Academy of Cincinnati is also named in his honor as he is still revered for being one of the first Abstract Expressionists to work in Cincinnati. This sketchbook features 14 pages of original sketches, signed in pencil by Chidlaw to the front cover.
