Melotte Signed Inkwell with Eagle Statuette

A Melotte signe inkwell with an eagle statuette. This beautiful piece features an eagle statuette with a snake in it’s beak which is a recognizable symbol with many cultures. The small statue is marked with ‘Melotte’ to the rock and is composed of a metal composition of 93.8% zinc, 5.33% copper and 0.59% iron. This figure is flanked by a pair of inkwells with hinged lids with brass toned lining and adorned in rose and acanthus leaf motifs. The base is of a rose colored marble with golden and burgundy colored striations through out, features a pen rest, and rises upon four brass toned feet.

Condition
to fair, the condition is consistent with age and shows signs of patina and about a one inch chip to the marble base.
