Pair of Japanese Hanging Scrolls on Paper and Silk

Item Details

A pair of Japanese hanging scrolls on paper and silk. These pieces use ink, watercolor and gouache, and one is in primarily brown and white tones and depicts ducks on the ground and birds in a leafless tree. It is signed ‘Le tian ju shi’ (樂天居士) on the left edge. The other uses a range of greens, blues and reds to depict forested hills. It is titled at the top Qiu ji xiu jiu (秋齌敘旧) with an additional inscription in the upper right corner. Each has a wooden rod at the bottom, and a loop affixed to the top.

Condition

- minor edge wear, top hanging apparatus of beige scroll is detached.
