A hand-tufted Savonnerie wool area rug by Safavieh. This plush Chinese-made rug features a French Savonnerie-style design in a palette of ivory, rose, lavender, cream, and black. It begins with a large, oval central medallion filled with stylized acanthus, vines, flowers, and architectural detail over black. The medallion rests on an ivory field, which is populated with pastel-colored florals and foliage and framed by broken borders. Large-scale, swirling acanthus and floral bouquets fill the primary border, which is grounded in black. Edges are overcast on all sides. The rug has a full fabric backing and is labeled on the reverse.
