A collection of four antique books. This collection features an illustrated edition of Oliver Goldsmith’s The Vicar of Wakefield, published in 1843 by John Van Voorst of London; this book, which includes thirty-two illustrations by William Mulready, is a fully leatherbound hardcover with raised bands, gilt page edges and gilt cover decoration including a floral motif. The Vicar of Wakefield is presented in a red cloth-covered clamshell book box with the title on the spine. Also included are antique editions of Jerome K. Jerome’s The Idle Thoughts of an Idle Fellow (Philadelphia: Henry Altemus, 1890), Aesop’s Fables (Chicago and New York: Rand, McNally & Company, 1897), and Jonathan Swift’s Gulliver’s Travels (London: J. M. Dent & Sons, 1913).
